About

Less lecture. More learning.

MeraLearn is gamified learning for vocational classrooms: short games the whole class plays, so you can teach without the long lecture, and see exactly what landed.

Why it exists

A long lecture loses a room. Students stop listening long before the teacher stops talking, and the words and ideas the lesson was for never land.

MeraLearn turns that time into play: short games the whole class takes part in, quick enough to run inside a lesson and useful enough to be worth the time they take. Students learn by doing, and the teacher sees what stuck.

What it is

MeraLearn means my learning. It is the hub: one class list, one teacher dashboard and one place students sign in, with the games around it. Each game keeps its own name and does one thing well.

There are two kinds so far. Terminology games drill the words of a trade: six of them, from Speed Sort to Chain Reaction, all playing on one set of terms. Role Player gets a class ready for the roleplay you run in the room.

The game is the easy part. Knowing who played, how they did, and what they keep getting wrong is what makes it teaching rather than a distraction, so that is built in from the start, and every new game uses it.

How it is made

  • No sign-up for students. They type a code from their teacher and play. An account is optional, for keeping every class in one place.
  • Practice stays practice. Revising on their own time never moves the class marks.
  • The server keeps the score. A round is marked against the answers held on the server, so a score cannot be typed in.
  • Tried in real lessons first. Nothing reaches another teacher until it has survived a real class.
  • Made for adults. The games are quick and scored, not childish. The audience is a hospitality, catering, IT or business classroom, and the design respects that.

Get involved

MeraLearn is free while it is being built. If you teach something these games could help with, get in touch: the next game is decided by what classrooms actually need.
